Our featured cat for The River's Purrfect Friday: Bronwyn
Here's what Dr. Jen had to say about Bronwyn:
In early January of 2016, Douglas resident Michael O. befriended this beguiling alabaster beauty,
took her in and offered her shelter and safety. The four year old (born in early 2012) had previously
been spayed but had no microchip, so there was no way to locate an owner - if there was someone out
there looking for her. He planned on integrating her into his home, but two things prevented this:
1. his other two feline residents were in strong disagreement, and 2. she tested FIV positive; since
harmony wasn't abounding in his household, he was fearful someone would bite, and he didn't want to
risk transmission of the virus. Luckily our friends at Reuben's Room referred him to us, and on
January 25th, Big Sid's Sanctuary welcomed this pretty little princess into its furry fold.
After her initial work-up at the clinic, where a dental cleaning was performed and a bilateral ear
infection treated, Bronwyn settled in nicely at our facility, taking to dipping deep down into the
blanket her rescuer provided for her for luxurious naps, then perching herself high above the others
and observing their antics from a self-designated distance. Our cat care director has officially deemed
her royalty, commenting that she is slowly but surely learning to tolerate the 'lesser beings' in her
court; though she says this tongue-in-cheek, it does hold true that Bronwyn may feel a wee bit superior
to her kitty counterparts - probably because we are constantly telling her how striking and regal she is. :)
She views us humans as her equals, and together she feels we reign supreme over the land. Bronwyn's
relationship with the volunteers is one of mutual respect and admiration, as she simply cannot get enough
hands-on attention from those who dote on her; she returns the kindness ten-fold, bestowing endless affection
on those who have surrounded her with comfort and warmth. She will make a FABULOUS feline addition to a kingdom
(er, cat-dom) that is seeking a sweetheart to spend quality one-on-one lap and lounge time with.
Ideally she would LOVE to be the queen of the castle, so if you feel that you can offer milady the type of life she fancies, please let us know!
